Albert Einstein is the archetype of a genius scientist; his very name connotes brilliance. Yet for all his scientific accomplishments, Einstein never lost sight of the fundamental mystery of life. He retained his childlike wonder for the universe, even as he revealed some of its deepest secrets.

As he said, “A human being is a part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe,’ a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest—a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. The striving to free oneself from this delusion is the one issue of true religion. Not to nourish the delusion but to try to overcome it is the way to reach the attainable measure of peace of mind.”

At Being Human we want to call out Albert Einstein as representing the best combination of valid scientific inquiry and enduring awe at the wonder of human existence.
